Safe Access to MDR Walk/Bike Path
A wall was constructed to block access through a popular shortcut for getting to the walking and biking path at Marina Del Rey (Marvin Braude Bike Path). The shortcut was located behind the Ralphs grocery store.
Impact
- This shortcut was the safest way for cyclists coming from the neighborhoods east of Lincoln Blvd to get to the bike path.
- This is because there is no bike lane on Lincoln, Washington (east of Lincoln), or Jefferson. The optimal route was to take Maxella across Lincoln then through the shortcut.
- This shortcut was a safe way for people who pedestrians to drop kids off at the pre-school behind Ralphs.
- Allowed quicker access for pedestrians who live around Lincoln

Please comment if you have any ideas of how to fight this with the city or any other helpful information. I know it is unlikely that we will win, but I want to at least try.
